Beachside Leighton Mirvac

This development occupies one of Perth's premium iconic residential sites at Leighton Beach. The challenge for Mirvac, the designer and builder, was to capture and express the unique qualities of the location in an architectural statement. Stage 1 of the project consists of five buildings, each consisting of five levels of luxury apartments.

It was critical that Mirvac secured a precaster such as Perth Precast who understood the complexity of supplying components for five buildings to be constructed at the same time – some 1,350 precast panels in total – while also executing the high level of architectural detail required for the project.

Perth Precast took a partnership approach to working with the construction team from Mirvac, including their in-house architectural staff.

The Perth Precast management team sat down with the Mirvac teams, and together formulated a manufacturing, supply and construction program that would meet Mirvac's needs – in terms of both construction timelines – and ensuring the high quality of finishes required to the architectural detail was achieved.

Perth Precast also undertook the first Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) moulding job in Perth since the 1960s for the Mirvac Beachside Leighton facades.

The client's brief was for decorative facades that were light weight and also durable in an exposed marine environment. Perth Precast's 'can-do' response was to provide a practical solution in GRC screens.

This solution is an example of the innovation of the Perth Precast management team – and the vision it holds for the continuing development of innovative and sustainable products that will enhance the acceptance of precast concrete as a leading-edge construction methodology.
